Authentic Songwriters need authentic Support!
Songwriting is often a solitary and inward process. Sharing with others can be vulnerable — if we aren’t worried about how we look, maybe it’s our choice of lyrics, how we sing — or that second verse where you talk very specifically about how your ex made you feel before she left. It’s raw!
Gathering with other writers in a sensitive, attuned, and supportive environment can inspire us to deepen the trust in our practice, find resilience, and appreciate the growth and beauty of our process.
This circle is for all levels and styles of song-making. In February, we had a couple some professional performers (who have written dozens and dozens of songs) as well as someone who wrote her first song — the day before! Every piece of art created is heroic — improbable — and worth supporting. And there’s a way of being where making and sharing art is as natural and inevitable as breathing.
This gathering’s format is simple: songwriters step into the center of the circle and receive attention from attendees for a set length of time. You anything with that time. Perform a set! Share one song and ask for feedback; share an in process song; or start a group conversation on a topic of your choosing.
Spotlit songwriters get 12-20 minutes in the circle depending on size — RSVP is required, and folks are requested to attend for the full time!
Monday June 20th, 6:45pm-9:30pm
Cost: $25 or Sliding scale $10-40 — no one turned away for lack of funds
